Well...I guess that's it...

July 4, 1776: The U.S. adopts the Declaration of Independence, declaring their independence from Great Britain

May 8, 1945: "Victory Day" for the Western Allies, effectively ending World War II

November 9, 1989:  The fall of the Berlin Wall

September 22, 2007: the Don rides into the sunset

That's right, folks.  I've really enjoyed this whole blogging thing, and I must say that I've even been more impressed with the internets than I would have originally estimated (that's not to say I was wrong about anything; I repeat: I was not wrong about anything).  However, all good things must come to an end.  And, to be honest with you, I really need to free up a little more time to work on my badminton game.

As a way of saying goodbye, I'd like to salute the fine people who made this blog possible.  So...

...here's to Fred Phelps, whose demonization of, well, everyone, never ceases to both amaze and confound simultaneously.

...here's to John Piper, whose love of Jonathan Edwards is only eclipsed (slightly) by his love for God.

...here's to Paige Patterson, who never fails to look ridiculous, even when confronted with the greatest opportunities to look credible.

...here's to me.  Face it, this blog just wouldn't have been the same if I hadn't written it.

And finally...

...here's to the administration at TEDS.  Hey, admin people, you know how at the end of every Friday the 13th movie they always think they've killed Jason off for the last time?  Just checking...

Keep learning, keep loving, and keep laughing.

Most Humbly Yours,
Donald Awesome "the Dragon" Carson

I'm sorry if this blows your aforementioned stats at all, but I am actually one of real Don's Ph.D. students, and I thought that this blog was absolutely hilarious. I haven't followed it until recently (mainly as a result of the TEDS administration's witch hunt), but I have found it to be stunningly witty and often surprisingly insightful.

You guys stepped over lines here and there (you know you did), but all in all it was pretty tame, obviously in good fun, and in many ways I will be sad to see it go. In fact, though I'm sure they wouldn't admit it, Carson, Piper, Mohler, Dever and friends are partly to blame for this blog and for the controversy it has stirred up because they have done very, very little to quash the celebrity status and cult of personality that have developed around them. There is certainly a need for them to come out and say, unambiguously, "Yes, of course we want you to read our books and consider what we have to say, but for God's sake, knock off the idol worship!"

There is also a humility issue here, I think. I kept asking myself, "What would Don's friend C.J. Mahaney think of this blog?" Honestly, I think if someone had written a "fake Mahaney" blog, C.J. would have been logging on to comment and make fun of himself as a way to cultivate humility in himself.

How about a fake Paige Patterson? Maybe TEDS Admin. would get less huffy about that? Looking forward to seeing what's next, guys (and Steph).

Is Steph single?
Because if she won't be busy slaving in your office, Dragon, I would love to take her out for some coffee and discuss God's plan for her life?

Just let me know.

This sentence is not a question. I'm sure that as an editor Steph would not be interested in someone with bad grammar. So sorry.

I came across this blog today. Ridiculously funny. I’m a TEDS Div from ’02 and I had Don for three classes, and I love him and have read a number of his books and listened to hours of his talks. But the satire here was priceless. I laughed out loud so many times. I love TEDS and I have friends in the Administration, but I don’t think attacking this is the right thing for TEDS. Seemed pretty clear the site as not purporting to be the real Don.

I would like to see it continue. I second the need for a C.J. fake blog. But a fake Mark Dever blog would definitely be funnier.

Mate, having a spoof blog like this is even a bigger compliment than having your own entry in Wikipedia!!

They say that imitation is the best compliment. Forget that -- spoofery is the greatest!

Carson & co. should take this as the compliment it is. :-)

I wish someone would take the mickey out of me...

Maybe it's time to start a "fake grudem" blog.

The comment count was up, so I checked this thread with hope that there was an announcement of your return.

I also checked last August on the off-chance that you couldn't resist commenting on the neo-Reformed reaction to the tornado during the ELCA Convention in Minneapolis.

If that wasn't not enough to entice you to resume blogging, I guess nothing is. But, perhaps that entree would have been too easy - like shooting fish in a barrel?

Your gracious spirit and gentle humor are missed!
